In order to get a new offensive spark off the bench for the Wizards, the Wizards have brought back off-guard Ledell Eackles for his third tour with the Bullets/Wizards. This lack of bench presence was never more evident than in Wednesday's game, when coach Bernie Bickerstaff only played two reserve players in their win over the Spurs.
The Wizards will look to Eackles to be a slashing scorer who can get to the foul line, something he has excelled at in the past. But don't be surprised to see him shoot from 3-point range, as he did when he was with the Bullets in the 1995-96 season (shooting 42.2% in 22 minutes per game). He should complement Murray reasonably well.
A couple of concerns remain. Eackles was out of the NBA last season, so I have some concern about his conditioning at moment. Also, he may not last long on this team, and Tim Legler may be returning to the line-up in about 2 weeks, if he continues to progress at his current pace of receovery from an injured hamstring.
Meanwhile, the Wizards look to close out their time in Landover, MD against the Chicago Bulls. They've won once this season already against the Bulls and are looking to repeat that magic. It'll be a great game to watch on HTS tonight.
