Just a quick off-season note in the Washington Post, one that didn't even make it onto the front pages of any of the Post's sports subsections. Amy Shipley writes a short article about Whitney heading to South Africa with other NBA and WNBA players to run children's basketball clinics in Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg.
It's good to see Whitney making the extra effort to contribute in this way.
The article also notes that Whitney has been working out at the Wizards' training facility in Maryland. Other Wizards players who have spent at least a little time there (most likely playing pick-up scrimmages) are Cheaney, Grant, Strickland, CWebb, and Ben Wallace. Nice to see the players taking it seriously. (Note that Muresan is overseas shooting a movie, and Tracy Murray is still recovering from off-season surgery, hence they are unable to participate at this time.)
