Gheorghe Muresan is going to be a movie star this summer. He's going to be in Europe and Hollywood for filming of Billy Crystal's "My Giant." He should actually figure prominently in the roles of the movie (presumably, he is the giant ;-).
But the Bullets aren't taking any chances with Gheorghe's conditioning. Because he will be spending about a month in Europe and then nearly 2 months in Hollywood on filming, they are concerned that he will not be in proper shape when training camp starts next season and that he will have recurring injuries like last season. Because of that, general manager Wes Unseld has worked out some training guidelines for Gheorghe and also recommended a personal trainer, as Washington Post reporter J.A. Adande reported on Sunday.
This is good for both sides, I think. Hopefully, Gheorghe will maintain proper conditioning during the summer with his 2-hour workouts and not begin the season injured or ineffective. Plus, it may indicate that the Bullets are more than likely going to keep Muresan this off-season rather than trade him before the final season of his contract. However, if a good offer were to come up, don't expect the Bullets to hold onto Gheorghe forever, budding entertainment star that he may be. (Look out, Shaq.)
