Defense Was Optional As Bullets Practice Winning Against Boston

6 April 1997. Washington Bullets 120, Boston Celtics 114 (record: 39-36)
Game leaders: Howard, Webber (31 points), Webber (13 rebounds), Webber, Strickland (9 assists)This game seemed more like a practice session than a real game. Both teams ran with the ball and scored at will, it seemed. Neither head coach was pleased with his team's defensive production.
How bad was it? Both teams shot over 60% during the first half, when the score at half was 74-67. Nobody was bodying up or helping at all; only 3 fouls were called in the first quarter.
Still, all Bullets starters scored in double figures. CWebb was one assist short of a triple double. Howard shot 13 of 17 from the field, Webber was 14 of 20. Unfortunately, the Bullets bench only contributed 16 points in the effort, and Cheaney shot 4 of 13 from the field.
At least the game is over and the Bulllets get another win out of it.
