The Washington Wizards concluded cleaning house of all things Lynam by contacting assistant coach Clifford Ray the day after releasing Bob Staak to inform him that they will not re-sign him for next year. This was not an unexpected event, but it officially removes all coaching hires by former coach Jim Lynam and allows current coach Bernie Bickerstaff to create his own coaching team.
There were some interesting tidbits in the Washington Post article, by J.A. Adande, about Ray's firiing. He was given much credit for helping CWebb with goalsetting during the year, as well as helping some of the other big men on the team.
No new assistant coaches have been named yet. The Wizards probably don't feel the need to rush the decision, although Bickerstaff is likely to hire at least some of his former staff from Denver, who were fired earlier this off-season with Dick Motta. Stay tuned as Bickerstaff builds his team.
