Another Overtime Heartbreaker For The Bullets

Well, the Bullets lose another heartbreaker in overtime. It also took an incredible play by a point guard just to force overtime. This time, Rod Strickland drove most of the court, sliced between two shot blockers, lay the ball off the glass, then watched as the ball spun around the rim and finally dropped through.

Once again, the Bullets are failed by their free throw shooting, going 18 of 32 (56.3%) from the charity stripe. Webber, Howard and Strickland again struggled (combined 14 of 24 from the line). The Pacers were only slightly better, but the Bullets really need to work on their shooting.

The Bullets had a chance to send the game to a second overtime, but Webber's 3-point attempt at the buzzer bounced short off the rim. Now, the Bullets get a couple days off before they play the Pistons at home on Tuesday.

While we're talking about Webber, I need a little extra space to point out that Webber, the Chicken & Waffles guy, is no longer sponsored by Nike. They had some contract disputes - Webber claims he was unhappy with the price ($140) of his shoes as being too expensive for children, and Nike claims Webber wanted a more expensive contract--and decided to part company. Webber is now wearing Converse shoes, but he is blacking out the logo on the shoe. He's negotiating for a new shoe contract; Converse is one of the possible sponsors.
