Wizards Score Second Straight Rocky Mountain High

20 October 1997. Washington Wizards 105, Denver Nuggets 96 (preseason record: 2-2)
Game leaders: Webber (32 points), Webber (11 rebounds), Whitney (5 assists)Once again, most news sources do a less than credible job in providing a game summary. So, we'll just punt again.
CWebb was the man. He was 13 of 16 from the field (including 1 for 1 from 3-point range - get used to it, he's going to take them and can hit them), to go with assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and 4 turnovers in 41 minutes. (Isn't CWebb logging some exceptionally heavy minutes?) Cheaney also is logging heavy minutes (42 last night), and he responded with 19 points. Two other players were in double digit scoring (Strickland and Whitney).
Muresan Heading To IR? By all indications, it's likely. He will be nowhere ready in terms of conditioning for the regular season, though at least doctor's don't believe he will require surgery - just rest and rehabilitation, according to Ric Bucher of the Washington Post. However, Rod Strickland is now a concern. He went down with a left hamstring injury late in the second quarter and did not return. Hamstring injuries can linger, and they definitely slow you down. This is not good for running the team. At least Whitney has been stepping up in the last few games and performing well.
Now, there is this thing about Bernie saying he's going to start giving minutes in preseason to those who are going to get the minutes in the regular season. I wouldn't go by the minutes in the Denver games, as they are a special type of team that requires some different matchups. It'll be interesting to see the final 3 games, as they are likely to be against more traditional teams, to see how minutes are divided (keeping in mind that Strickland and Howard, two starters likely to get heavy minutes) won't be playing. This should give a clue as to how Bernie plans on stacking the team.
